Program and Services
Through our year round therapeutic riding and horsemanship programs, Hilltop
TRP offers opportunities for skill building and achievement to individuals of
all ages who face a multitude of challenges each day: a young adult dealing with
mental illness, a child challenged by a development delay, a troubled teen
who has been moved from foster home to foster home, and an adult/veteran overwhelmed
by stress and worry. The Hilltop TRP experience combines the healing power of
the human-animal bond with targeted and attainable goals reached through individualized
equine assisted activities.
- Therapeutic Riding Programs: Throughout the year, Hilltop TRP offers day and evening therapeutic riding lessons to children and adults with cognitive, psychological or developmental disabilities. Professional, clinical mental health services are available.
- Unmounted Equine Learning Program: This program is intended to service participants who want to work around horses and/or in a farm environment. participants learn about horse care and barn management under the tutelage of a volunteer coach and Hilltop TRP instructor. Each student is provided with an individualized training program specific to his or her interests, skills and specific disability.
- Summer Equine Learning Program : The Summer Equine Learning Program offers a comprehensive curriculum on horsemanship; including horse care, stable management and daily riding lessons. This is an inclusive morning program for riders with and without disabilities, ages 4 to 16. Weekly sessions are grouped by age and riding ability with instruction given by a certified instructor/equine specialist.
- Volunteering: This is an essential component of the Hilltop TRP experience. Individuals are able to participate in most areas of the programs functioning from public relations to regular rider and/or equine support.
